Orbs...are those circular transparent balls of...something... that have
been found in countless photos, yet are almost always invisible to the naked
eye. There are many theories out there as what could be the cause of the
apperance of them. Since they are found quite predominantly in areas believed
to by frequented by spirits and ghostly activities, many feel that this proves
that there is a level of existence after we die. Some would argue that orbs
are simply light reflecting off such things as dust particles or water vapour
in the air. Other than while watching the BBC"s "Most Haunted", I really never
bothered to give them much thought one way or another...until this week.
After looking at a picture taken in our living room a few days ago, a large
orb is present in the photograph! Even more intriguing is that the orb seems
to have had enough substance to make a shadow!! This discovery has stirred up
alot of emotions and questions for us all. Was this simply a random
reflection of light, or....?? Is this evidence that Darrel has paid us a
visit? If so, why now? After trying to contemplate the potential meaning all
this, we began to re-examine other pictures taken since Darrel died last
September. To our surprise, there is a single orb present in several of these
photos that we had never had noticed before!
Over the past ten years that we have lived in this house, hundreds and
hundreds of pictures have been snapped in every room, from every angle, and
every time of day, but never before has there been anything like this. The
fact that this is such a recent development, and it directly corresponds with
Darrel's death is both comforting, and somewhat unsettling at the same time.
Not being a firm believer in what may or may not happen to us once the body
ceases to function leaves me open to any and all possibilities, and this
certainly requires an open mind to evaluate.
Many say that there are no such things as coincidence, that things happen
for a purpose and/or reason. Being a student of history, I have spent a great
deal of research looking for the minor, and often obscure events that led to
the larger, more significant ones that helped to shape the world we live in
today. Though this has served me well in the past, we are no longer talking
about what happened long ago in some distant land. We are talking about what
is happening now, in my house, to my family...and with my son.
Darrel's death has deeply touched the lives everyone who knew him, and
countless others who never had that honour. Of that I am quite certain. As to
the puzzle that now presents itself, I am unsure I want to know, could handle,
or would be satisfied by any answer anyone could provide
